A
Log Cabin Built Over a Stream in Berkeley Springs, West
Virginia
Yellow
Springs Run
log cabin is located in the town of Bath (Berkeley
Springs), West Virginia, about 90 miles from the Washington
and Baltimore beltways. The cabin, which was built over 40
years ago, spans the Yellow Springs Run; the two stone foundation
walls (there are no foundation walls at either end) are also
the banks of the Run. Inside, the cabin is finished with knotty
pine. While the cabin is in a neighborhood of Berkeley Springs,
its location is a quiet one, so that it feels more out of
the way than it is.
The
Town of Bath has been a popular spa since at least
the mid 18th century. George Washington, among others,
bathed here. The mineral springs are now the central
feature of a small state park in the center of town,
where one can have a relaxing soak in the waters, followed
by a massage. Berkeley Springs has numerous antique
shops, and it is an excellent center for exploring
the beauty of Morgan County.
